Testing and Performance Evaluation

The testing and evaluation of IR imaging systems are not less important than development and production. There are two techniques to evaluate IR imaging systems, one is done by technical people measuring different targets output video signal, the second one is done by computer, using what called knife edge or sharp edge target and Edge Spread Function ESF algorithm. We in MOSANADAH use both techniques, depends on the quantities and the accuracy. 

For image correction, we use a high accurate thermal-controlled black body which is purchased from SANTA BARBARA INFRARED. Santa Barbara Infrared’s Infinity Series of absolute temperature only blackbody systems (EX Series) are designed to support the most critical infrared (IR) testing requirements. 

The Infinity blackbodies offer the best performance available. Fast, stable, uniform, accurate and reliable, these blackbody systems provide performance enhancements and features that set them apart from previously available systems.

The mechanical design of the systems depends on the following factors:

1. The application which defined the main use of the system and the surrounding environment.
2. The selected component of the system: e.g., the system core, the thermal lens, the display unit.
3. The required component: e.g., the battery, the control unit.

In accordance with the system components, the preliminary design of the enclosure can start. The preliminary design start with the inspiration of other similar systems in the global market, this helps us generate the shape of our enclosure and assure that the final design can look more ergonomic and user friendly. when the idea of the design is set, the final design process starts, through which we can test different ideas, then choose the most suitable one. After the final design is finished, we can 3D print it to review the shape and test the functionality of the system.

There are many standards in the mechanical design and maintenance process. The design problem must be formulated with clear and complete statements of specific functions and specifications. This is done through well-studied steps in accordance with international principles and standards
